Common Ground,
is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the breath and scope of the performing arts to all segments of Southeast Texas. The HEART of our ensemble lies with our volunteers and Board of Directors. The LIFE of Common Ground is sustained by our generous corporate and individual sponsors. The SOUL is the audience, providing support, appreciation and encouragement for the efforts of our volunteer actors and production team. Common Ground provides quality theatre, with affordable admissions allowing everyone in the community to attend. Common Ground has 3 mainstage productions each season. Our season will usually include one Youth production in the summer.

HISTORY- Common Ground Performing Arts Ensemble is a non-profit (501) (C) (3) community theatre ensemble; founded in 2008, by Jo Larkins, June Rocio, Delcie Thomas and Michelle Turner.  Each had a desire to broaden the scope of theatre in Southeast Texas .  The decision was made to work together to establish Common Ground.  Realizing they would need a talented and resourceful Board of Directors; Yolanda Avery, Gwen Biggs, Melody Chappell, Kathryn Marrero and Jennifer McClendon were asked and agreed to join this eager group.

In February 2008, Common Ground presented its first production, Lorraine Hansberry’s classic “A Raisin in the Sun.”  This production received rave reviews and support from the community.  CG is pleased to present three productions during its first full season 2009 -2010; Crowns, “ A Lesson Before Dying,” and “Alice in Wonderland, Jr.”

Common Ground is determined to shine light on the art and culture of our diverse community by offering local artists the opportunity to show case their talent and attract new audiences to the theatre.
